Luxury and sustainability are two different terms that contradict each other, and how about luxury housing and sustainable materials? It is possible these days, and it is emerging as a trend. Sustainability plays a main role, and people have had a major shift from artificial to naturalistic. This shift happened during the COVID-19 days, of the lockdown period. People were locked inside the four walls; all they had was food, entertainment, and work, and that disturbed most of the people’s brains. Everything around them became a machine, except them, and sooner or later they might become one. The daily life—the breezy winds, rough soil, swaying trees, chirping birds, and many more—became something like heaven after being released from the four walls to humankind. People started to import many things from nature because of the phobia they had during lockdown. Sustainable materials and luxury housing have been a common practice, but the new narrative was these two notions of collaboration in recent days in the modern world.

Luxury has a new meaning

Yes, the word luxury has a new meaning among people; it doesn’t mean rich or royal anymore. It means it is comfortable and more sustainable. Luxury housing means expensive building materials, swimming pools, home theaters, lift facilities, wifi technology, etc., but not anymore. People tend to change these to demanding their designers design a nice balcony, brickworks, plumberia plantations, large windows, natural sunlight inside houses, and courtyards. Days spent on hifi technology and gadgets turn towards to spending huge money for these better mends. This shift was happening, and home buyers became more sensitive to visiting the house and feeling instead of buying anymore as soon. The four walls with lights and gadgets weren’t what humans needed. Like the wild animals in the forest, humans are social animals, and they too need something that has life within them.

Sustainable Heals

As mentioned earlier, sustainable housing and materials are common concepts, but after the rise of COVID and the lockdown period, people tend to know the value of nature and its healing.

The moment after the lockdown, the visiting period in the parks, playgrounds, and gardens increased. Before the lockdown, everything in the greens was just a colour, and after the lockdown period, without the greens, people tend to have more stress and suggestions for indoor plants as well, according to experts. Sustainable heals everything—something it never broke, it can do with that. A coffee on a balcony in the early morning will make a day better than anything; sensing the sunlight inside the living room while lying on the sofa is something beautiful; watering the plants every day on the terrace will heal broken hearts; walking with pets was the heavenly thing; feeling the bricks and stones inside the interior walls will no longer make someone feel alone anymore. Nature can do magic if it has a path to follow.

Sustainable luxury spaces

Sustainable but luxury and luxury but sustainable were never rich people’s identities anymore.

Sustainability can be a luxury sometimes because inviting nature inside the four walls is never a common thing. It should be treated properly as well. Not every technology affects the atmosphere; some help let the natural world inside the artificial world. Building more with natural materials such as bamboo, bricks, wood, stones, or any other natural materials.

Rainwater harvesting

Green roofs

Solar panels

Energy-efficient materials

LED Lights

Eco-friendly materials

And many other technologies are emerging daily to get the green inside the rooms.

Late but good

The understanding of the concept of sustainability was too late, and it was good because it was better late than never. These days, human beings are slowly destroying the earth every single second, but some people are gradually realizing that the actual truth is not about being more wealthy; it is about being healthy. Luxury housing is wealthy, and with the incorporation of sustainability, it has become healthy as well. Mental health is more important than physical health because people nowadays with no health problems are dying soon because of stress, depression, etc., but what is the reason and why? It’s all because of the depression of emotions and being afraid to vent out, but experts are saying that touching, breathing, and sensing the naturally formed elements will reduce cardiac arrest and the problems related to unwanted stress issues.

It is very important to pass on the importance of sustainable luxury spaces to the future generation. Because it took these years to realize the value of these to the later generation, young minds, and people should start investing in things that have more life than money. Money-mindedness should be reduced, and the importance of life over anything should increase. Because breathing fresh air is more important than buying a brand of t-shirts, watering plants is more important than racing a car, and reducing the use of plastic is more important than inventing new technology. There are several ways to be rich, royal, or wealthy, but there are only a few ways to be in a healthy environment. Home is not only the four closed walls; at least one wall should have an opening, the other wall should be made of natural materials, and the other walls should heal the person who is staring as well.
