The clients wanted their flat to have a premium vibe but did not want to go overboard with extravagant features and accents. Because of this, there is a delicate balance between cosiness and homeliness and a hint of metropolitan elegance and grandeur. The home follows a general minimal style, which is accomplished by using monochromatic accents all over the place. You are greeted at the entrance by an illusionary inlay that is mirrored in the ceiling-mounted mirrors. The living area, which has been conceptualised with an open plan, is located beyond the main lobby. The TV set in this room has been replaced with an accent marble wall since it serves as the main gathering place for the family. Rich grey display shelves flank this feature wall on either side. Elegant sofas and bespoke lounger chairs make up the ample seating space in this room.

A set of sliding-folding doors separate the puja room from main space which extends into the dining area on the other side. Low-height credenzas bring about a visual distinction in these areas while maintaining the openness of this space. The dining room opens into the spacious kitchen. A white and grey palette is evident in the kitchen. A breakfast counter and large kitchen island complete this space in every sense. Italian marble flooring and PU-finished wooden elements give these areas a royal touch. The dining area opens out into the main balcony of this beautiful house. The bedroom of the parents’ is located right off the dining area. Featuring a louvred headboard made up of different size gradations, this room is finished in a beige and cappuccino colour scheme. It also includes a spacious, L-shaped wardrobe which extends into a TV unit and a study space.

On the other side of the apartment, a European-styled foyer leads into the other bedrooms along with the lounge. Adopting blue and white hues with hints of grey, the children’s bedroom makes use of more funky and dynamic elements. On the other hand, the master bedroom speaks of opulence and suave, with coffee brown and cream tones. A spacious walk-in wardrobe leads into the master bathroom which emanates a classy, hotel-like ambience. Designed with fine Italian marble, inlay details and soothing lighting, this bathroom features a jacuzzi & a shower area. A sitting nook has been carved out into this room to create a comforting ambience.

Back in the foyer, a set of sliding-folding doors opens up into the TV lounge. Designed with cosiness in mind, this lounge features a veneered ceiling and beautiful wooden flooring. A mix of bean bags and throw pillows encourages floor seating for the perfect TV viewing experience. The use of indirect and soft lighting emphasises the luxurious theme of this apartment which is brought about by the prevailing neutral, minimal colour scheme. Being an outstation project, the designer’s team had to overcome challenges posed by the pandemic to expedite the whole design process of this home. Getting some of the elements from Mumbai and shipping them to Bangalore posed another challenge that the team worked through. Highlighting state-of-the-art materials and design elements, this Bangalore apartment exudes a deluxe, premium feel, fitting its name – The Uptown Suite.
